There are many opportunities to learn languages overseas. Some governments actively promote their national languages and provide generous support to foreign students. We have come across several excellent programs over the years that offer incredible value and opportunities for travel.

For instance, the Goethe Institute offers many opportunities for students of all ages to learn German in Germany which include generous room and board accommodations and very economical rates. Students can spend months at a time in different German cities taking language lessons at a fraction of what it would cost if they were to do it alone.

Germany is not alone. France and many other European governments run government subsidized language programs.
